1. Rustling someone’s Jimmies is just too easy these days…

I just got a tweet rant from some Sonic The Hedgehog fanboy saying that I (yes, me) am the one who can define what is, or isn’t Feminism. As well as the topic of Sexism in gaming not always being aimed at women. Well, here’s my response…

    Dear thatherty2,

I got sour news for you jack…but sexism, is a two-way street. While it is aimed at women, or at least perceived to be aimed at women, it does affect men as well. If you were older than 15, and had lived any life experience other than shoving a Tails toy up your sphincter, you’d understand this…but you don’t.

Since you like to review my videos, have you seen the one I posted about having an honest and open discussion about sexism in gaming? Probably not. I take it to the internet to pose the open question, and have received honest responses from those who have seen it. It’s not just about WOMEN, it’s about all of us…but that’s not what some people want you to believe.

What you don’t understand about me is this; I’m all for Feminism. I actually want to see women empowered, and in leading roles. I have no desire to see them tied by the apron strings to the kitchen. But the idea of what Feminism started out as, and what it has become are TWO ENTIRELY DIFFERENT THINGS.

Feminists originally wanted to be treated as equally as men. Receiving the same pay, benefits, ect… Which is COMPLETELY FAIR to protest for. What has happened is that equality has changed from equal treatment, to “I want the same things, but on my terms.”

So while I support Women getting equal pay and treatment for the same jobs as men, and a dismissal of sexism in the workplace (as well as society). I also think that if those demands are going to be made, they have to placated by taking on the same tasks as men. If they want the same pay as a man who is a construction worker, then they have to be willing to do the same job. Many Feminists will tell you that they will do this, and most of those women are lying…to both you, and themselves.

It’s a fine line to walk for both sexes. It’s not easy, and it never will be. In our country the squeaky wheel gets the grease (as I’m sure it goes in the UK as well), and that is completely prevalent in our society. We benefit those who play victims, and we bend over backwards for them. I’m sorry, but if you demand certain things, then you must be willing to offer the same in return. It’s called quid pro quo, and it’s something that doesn’t have much of a place in our society anymore.

I’m not telling people how to act, or what to think. I’m more often than not poking fun at the system, who’s behind it, and how they are acting. I do this to get a response (ie: Troll), and gauge it for conviction to the cause. If a person is a true believer, they usually let my shtick roll off their back. But if they don’t, then they are just looking to justify whatever belief they have…because they need to, instead of actually bettering their cause.

In closing (as you so aptly put it in your tweets), I want women to be equal with men. It’s the only way we as a society will leave behind the shit of the past and move forward. But I want it to be a fair and two-way street. I think that’s the only way it will succeed, and if other people don’t see it that way…that’s fine, because this is my opinion.

Take this rant for what you will. But you wanted a response, and I’m giving it to you. Now please, stop filling my twitter feed with incomplete thoughts.
