This is exactly why I HATE Penny Arcade →

I’ve been going to E3 since 2000. I’m pretty sure I’ve gone more times than most people in the industry. I remember seeing my first booth babe, and I even remember the crush my friend had on one in 2001. 

Scantly clad women at conventions isn’t a NEW thing. Car shows do it. Boating expos do it. Comic-Con does it. Yes, this is a reflection of a male dominated business model, but guess what people…women really don’t seem to care. I often times see more women posing for photos with the booth babes than I do men (this is a result of some men being TOO afraid to actually look at, or talk to a woman long enough to ask for a picture). 

Besides, Booth Babes are great because they support the local economy. For E3, thousands of out of work LA models (or hotties), are hired for a few days so be nice to men to who otherwise wouldn’t get a 2nd look by an attractive female. They aren’t stripping, nor are they jerking these men off for money in the back (believe me, I’ve tried looking for this).

Penny Arcade’s Ben Kuchera is complaining about how it’s insensitive to the female demographic — well Ben, actually pay attention to what people are doing, and not what you think they should be doing, and I’m sure you’ll figure things out on your own.

Long story short. I’m not a fan of PA. I never have been, and I never will be. But I am a fan of Booth Babes, and I don’t think that’s going away any time soon.
